How old do I have to be to rent a car?

All drivers, main or additional, regardless of age, are obliged to hold a full valid driving license. All drivers must be over 25 years of age and have held a full driving license for at least 3 year.

We also allow drivers aged between 23 and 24 years old, to drive a rental car provided that they have held a full driving license for at least 3 years. Such drivers are required to pay an extra insurance premium of €2 per day.

Maximum driver’s age in Cyprus is 75 years old, although drivers over this age may still be eligible to hire a car depending on their state of health. Such drivers are required to pay an extra insurance premium of €2 per day. Drivers unauthorized to drive are not covered by any insurance scheme and the main driver will be held liable for any damages caused to the vehicle or third parties. The extra insurance premium charge is not included in the car rental cost and must be paid on top of the rental. A rental contract showing a detailed breakdown of all charges will be given at the delivery of the car.
